# Fleetdock > Fleetdock is a free, open-source (Apache-2.0), self-hosted web dashboard and control plane for MariaDB, MySQL and PostgreSQL. It lets a team manage many database servers and databases from one place: connect servers, provision instances, browse and edit data, run SQL on many databases at once, schedule backups to their own S3 bucket, restore, and move databases between servers — without SSH and without handing credentials to a SaaS vendor. - What it is: A self-hosted web dashboard and control plane for database fleets - Databases: MariaDB, MySQL and PostgreSQL — self-hosted, in Docker, or hosted (e.g. Amazon RDS, Neon) when reachable over the network - License: Open source, Apache-2.0. Free; no paid tier - Runs on: Any Linux server with Docker; 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM to start. macOS and Windows (WSL2) for local evaluation - Install: One command: curl -sSL https://fleetdock.dev/install.sh | sudo sh (sets up automatic HTTPS) - Architecture: A Manager (UI, API, worker, PostgreSQL metadata) plus an optional lightweight Agent on each database server - Privacy: Runs entirely on your infrastructure, sends no telemetry; credentials encrypted at rest with your own key - Written in: Go (backend and agent) with a React web UI - Source code: https://github.com/Fleetdock/fleetdock ## What it does - One overview of every server, database server and database - Provision MariaDB, MySQL and PostgreSQL instances as isolated Docker containers - Connect existing and hosted databases with just an address and a login - Data browser: filter, edit rows with undo, follow foreign keys, saved views, CSV export - SQL console with autocompletion, a preview of the rows a write will change, and query plans - Fleet query: run one SQL script on up to 500 databases and compare the results - Scheduled backups to S3, Cloudflare R2 or any S3-compatible storage, with retention and on-demand test restores - Restore to the same or a new instance, with checksum verification - Move or copy a database to another server: backup, restore and verify in one step - Schema history, schema compare and generated migration scripts - ER diagrams of a database's tables and foreign keys - Server metrics (CPU, memory, disk, connections) and alerts by email, Slack or webhook - Users, roles and per-database permissions, API tokens and an audit log - Gateway for external access: one port per database with CIDR allowlists ## What it does not do - No high availability, replication management or automatic failover — keep your existing replication for that - Not a general container or Kubernetes platform; Docker is only used to run the databases it provisions - Engines other than MariaDB, MySQL and PostgreSQL (e.g. Redis, MongoDB) are not supported yet ## Who it is for - SaaS platforms with a database per customer - ERP and CRM vendors with isolated tenant databases - Hosting providers and agencies managing client databases - Infrastructure teams replacing SSH sessions and home-grown scripts - Developers who want one web GUI for all their MySQL and PostgreSQL databases ## Product - [Database instances](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/database-instances.md): Provision, register, and manage MariaDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL instances — configuration, lifecycle, credentials, logs, and connecting external applications. - [ER diagram](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/er-diagram.md): See a database's tables, columns, keys and the foreign keys between them as an entity-relationship diagram. - [External database access](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/external-access.md): Expose managed databases to applications outside your private network with the Fleetdock Gateway — HAProxy TCP proxy, CIDR allowlists, and app credentials. - [Fleet query](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/fleet-query.md): Run one SQL script on many databases at once and read the results side by side. - [Getting started](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/getting-started.md): Go from zero to your first managed database instance — install the Manager, connect a server, and provision MariaDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. - [Introduction](https://fleetdock.dev/docs.md): Fleetdock is an open-source control plane for managing self-hosted database infrastructure across multiple servers. - [Install on your computer](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/local.md): Run Fleetdock only on your own machine — macOS, Linux, or Windows through WSL2 — private to that computer, with no root and nothing exposed to the network. - [Manager installation](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/manager.md): Install and operate the Fleetdock Manager control plane with Docker Compose, TLS, persistent storage, and production configuration. - [Migration](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/migrations.md): Move or copy a database to another instance or server with a backup, restore, and verify saga — prerequisites, downtime, and failure recovery. - [Networking](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/networking.md): How the Agent and Manager communicate, which ports and directions matter, and how to reach the Manager from VMs like Multipass during local development. - [Nodes](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/nodes.md): Add, monitor, and remove database nodes — status, CPU, memory, disk, connectivity, and offline behavior. - [Performance](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/performance.md): Unused and redundant indexes, the most expensive statements on a server, and query plans. - [Restore](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/restores.md): Restore a database from a backup — same or new instance, checksum verification, downtime expectations, and failure handling. - [Schema history](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/schema-history.md): Record every structural change to a database, get notified, compare two databases and generate the migration script. - [Security](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/security.md): Fleetdock's trust model — Manager and Agent privileges, tokens and sessions, encryption, SSRF protection, compromise scenarios, and current limitations. - [SQL console](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/sql-console.md): Run scripts with autocompletion, preview writes before they happen, and read query plans as a tree. - [Troubleshooting](https://fleetdock.dev/docs/troubleshooting.md): Diagnose common Fleetdock problems — agent connectivity, tokens, TLS and DNS, Docker permissions, port conflicts, disk space, and stuck operations. -
